The 2007 P.I.E. served as a serious forum for leaders from all parts of the percussion world to discuss current trends in product development and market needs in the U.S.
"You get some really important feedback when you have a vibraphonist talking about marching percussion or a timpanist talking about concert snare drums or a college educator talking about the middle school market," said Troy Wollwage, Marketing Manager, Yamaha Percussion. "Everyone hears things differently. We strive to get input from everyone and then synthesize it down to the most important concepts upon which we can act and strengthen our business."

The 2007 PIE Meeting also provided Yamaha Percussion Artists such as Jim Campbell, Dennis Delucia, Stefon Harris and many others the opportunity to freely discuss artistic desires, educational trends and to learn more about the inner workings of the Yamaha Band and Orchestral Division.

"It was an honor to be part of such a diverse group that shared the common goal of advancing our art form," said participating Yamaha Artist Jim Campbell, currently a Professor of Music and Director of Percussion Studies at the University of Kentucky. "It's rare in today's climate to have the opportunity to exchange ideas with other colleagues, artists, educators and designers. This type of commitment from Yamaha will be appreciated by generations of future percussionists."

As a result of the high level of collaboration and free flow of ideas, the 2007 Percussion Idea Exchange turned out to be a major success, giving Yamaha valuable insights which will keep the company moving successfully into the future.
