Yamaha Presents 'Music Classroom of the Future'

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Highlighting the powerful educational applications of Yamaha music products teamed with innovative teaching practices, Yamaha will feature "Music Classroom of the Future," a series of exciting 15-minute live presentations offered daily at Winter NAMM 2008.

Presented by Yamaha's Institutional and Commercial Services Department, the mini-theatrical presentations will exhibit how Yamaha product-based solutions can educate, challenge and inspire the next generation of musicians, both classical and contemporary.

Moderated by Walt Straiton, Manager of Music In Education with Yamaha Corporation of America's Institutional and Commercial Services Department, the demonstrations will establish how innovative, interactive music learning tools can enhance instruction and dissolve the geographic and logistical barriers to music-making and education at school and at home.

Each presentation will briefly portray the distinctive musical education experiences of several students, highlighting unique Yamaha teaching programs found in pre-K, elementary, middle and high school music classrooms.

"'Music Classroom of the Future' connects the dots between music education products and actual solutions," notes Straiton. "These presentations underscore how the latest technology, combined with creative teaching practices, can revolutionize how music is taught and help cultivate a passion for creating it."

The presentation will showcase the ways that Yamaha products from Music in Education, Pro Audio and Combo, Band and Orchestral and Piano divisions dovetail seamlessly with three innovative music tools presented by Yamaha partners. These include The Hal Leonard Digital Music Notebook: FreeHand Music Pad Pro, a system that enables paper-free digital usage, annotation and storage of sheet music, and SmartMusic from MakeMusic!, Inc., an educational software program that can capture and assesses a child's remote practice and e-mail it to his or her instructor.

The 15-minute demonstrations will be presented daily on the Piano Stage in the Marquis Ballroom of the Anaheim Marriott Hotel. Check booth for details.
