The Finest You Can Get: Atlanta CorpsVets Play Yamaha

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Yamaha Corporation of America, Band and Orchestral division, is pleased to announce its new partnership with the Atlanta CorpsVets Drum & Bugle Corps. The CorpsVets recently purchased an entire outfit of battery percussion in Silky Silver including MTS-Snare Drums, 8200 Series Multi-toms and Bass drums along with stadium hardware and carriers. With this purchase, the CorpsVets join the fast-growing ranks of drum corps nationwide, which use Yamaha percussion exclusively.

Founded in 1997, the CorpsVets are one of only two drum and bugle corps in the entire state of Georgia. Competing in regional and national DCA (Drum Corps Associates) shows before large audiences and a panel of judges, the CorpsVets also participate in local community parades, standstill concerts, exhibitions at DCI (Drum Corps International) competitions and host educational clinics for local high school students.

"The CorpsVets are one of the strongest corps in the South, made up of some of the highest quality music educators in the area," said Troy Wollwage, Manager of Percussion, Yamaha. "We believe in their staff and their members and we look forward to seeing the corps grow. I know that they will continue to be a strong source of musical entertainment in the South."

Rehearsing and competing mostly on weekends, the CorpsVets members are given more time to spend with their families and work during the weekdays than other touring corps. In 2001, the CorpsVets won the Class A title at the DCA championship with a record score in that division—a record that stands today. They moved to the Open Class competition in 2002 and have remained Open Class finalists every year since.
