Statement from Tom Sumner, Senior VP, Yamaha Corporation of America on the Japan Earthquake and Supply Chain

Yamaha is deeply saddened by the events surrounding the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan. We offer our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the people of Japan who have sustained great loss due to this disaster.

Our company’s immediate focus has been on the safety of our employees, and we are pleased to say that the safety of all Yamaha personnel has been confirmed.

Upon review of our supply chain for our company’s Musical Instrument, Pro Audio and Audio/Video divisions, we do not foresee any significant impact in our ability to supply product to our customers due to these unforeseen events in Japan. Yamaha has sufficient inventory in place that can bridge any short-term demand. However, we are still assessing the full impact on and the stability of our supply chain, and are taking the precaution of looking at alternative sources for components to minimize supply disruptions to our global customer base.

By all news accounts, the situation in Japan is constantly evolving. We continue to closely monitor developments, and will keep our retail and business-to-business customers informed on a regular basis if the circumstances change.

Additionally, Yamaha Corporation will make a relief donation of ¥10 million to the Central Community Chest of Japan and other organizations, and will match relief donations made by our employees.
