Singer-Songwriter-Producer
Born Muhamed Conta in south of Stockholm, Sweden, and with roots from Gambia in West Africa, 25-year-old Mopiano takes the definition of DIY as a serious matter since he writes and produces his own music. He draws inspiration from artists such as Childish Gambino, Quincy Jones and Kanye West, as well the cinematic soundscapes and scores from composers like Ludwig Göransson and& John Williams.
“Mopiano’s early music inspiration comes from the family. His uncle recorded reggae in The Gambia and collaborated on Dr. Alban’s ‘Hello Africa’ – a song that launched Alban’s musical career and saw him rise to godlike status among 1990s euro-dance fans. His journey started around 12 or 13, when his Dad bought him a synth to fool around with.” ~ Cortega (PAM Magazine)
