There's A Yamaha Keyboard In The Tower Of Power

Tower of Power- Doc Kupka- Title
The office at Yamaha is buzzing. We have all followed Tower of Power here at Yamaha from the beginning. Dave Garibaldi has been a Yamaha Drum artist for years. Chester Thompson, also a long time Yamaha Keyboard artist, was an early member of the group. We're mostly musicians at Yamaha. We've lived, learned, and listened to the music of the greatest funk horn band on the planet since we were pups.

The phone call went like this:
"Hello, this is Doc Kupka. I'm with Tower of Power. I've been using one of your keyboards to write with for quite a while. I just thought you might like to know." Much of this incredible music was written on the cheapest Yamaha keyboard money can buy. Jaws were hitting the floor all over the building.

The Tower of Power horn section is legendary and Doc Kupka on baritone sax is one of the driving forces in the group contributing his writing, arranging, and of course, playing. In addition, Kupka's writing, producing and playing talents have graced projects outside "The Tower", including Kick It Up a Step by Strokeland Superband.

The questions started flying.
What keyboard?
"I've had several through the years. Always the really cheap one, PSR70-something. I take it everywhere. Emillo Castillo has one, too. We sometimes write together." (Emillo Castillo plays tenor sax and produced Tower of Power's Monster on a Leash and others.)

What songs?
"Most of them." We have since convinced both Doc and Emillo to move all the way up to the Yamaha PSR640. Can you imagine the music we have to look forward to?
