Yamaha Improves on Vintage Designs

BUENA PARK, CA (January 12, 2004) — The YHR-668II professional horn, modified in 2002, has become one of the most stable, consistent, and efficient horns available.

The YHR-668II design preserved the best features of other popular 1960's and 1970's vintage horns while incorporating several contemporary improvements of its own to make it one of today's most sought after horns.

A substantially wider bell, bell taper and thickness lends to quicker response and greater projection of the big, dark sound without over-blowing the instrument.

The Bb/F trigger, easily adjusted with a screwdriver, allows comfort for a wide range of hand sizes. The redesign also produces a faster action and reaction of the trigger mechanism itself.

The substantially longer leadpipe contributes to several improvements of the horn; most notable is the openness and overall playability from G below the staff to the second line G on the F side of the horn.

Moreover, the stability and intonation of the upper register is consistent and reliable – especially above the ninth partials. The notes are where you expect them to be and the slots are wide without letting the pitch wander.

While the horn already holds a strong position in the school market, this new design has caught the attention of several orchestral and free-lance professionals, initiating a new trend in the professional market.
