The YMP-203MS Marching Mellophone

BUENA PARK, CA (January 13, 2004) — The Yamaha Marching Mellophone has become one of the most reliable and durable instruments used for today's High School and College Marching Bands. Several popular, competitive Drum and Bugle Corps like the Cadets, Cavaliers, and Crossmen use Yamaha Mellophones on their high brass lines.

A newly designed, laser-fused bell flare produces a warm, round tone with plenty of presence while keeping the ability to hold together at loud volumes. The nickel-silver inner and outer slides ensures better fit and less chance of corrosion due to the durability of nickel-silver over brass.

Other advantages are the hand-lapped and honed valves, which create a precise fit between the valve casings and pistons allowing no air leakage and smooth action. All Yamaha Mellophones have heavy bracing throughout so they are more durable at vulnerable points and can withstand the athletic requirements from High School Marching Bands to competitive Drum and Bugle Corps.
