New Silent Bass Enhances Sound, Portability

ANAHEIM, CA (June 30, 2004) — Yamaha Band & Orchestral Division will debut the SVB-200SK Silent Bass at Winter NAMM 2004. The new Silent Bass is an exciting addition to the popular and award winning Silent String family.

The second generation Silent Bass improves upon the original design of the most unique electric upright by making it more portable. The bass is shorter in length without sacrificing string length, and the detachable frame is smaller and more compact than the original.

Much attention was paid to the tonal quality, especially with regard to resonance and acoustic attributes. The Silent Bass can easily be amplified and heard in large volume situations, while combining the 'punch' or energy of an electric bass with the crisp tonal qualities of an acoustic upright.

"The newest member of our Silent String family is the best-sounding electric upright on the market," says Mike Schaner, Assistant Manager, Yamaha Strings. "Add portability to the unsurpassed tonal quality, and you have a combination that appeals to any upright bassist on the move."

The bass will appeal to professional jazz and rock bassists, as well as college and high school concert or jazz bands and will be available in April.
