Yamaha debuts the Xeno Trombone Quartet

BUENA PARK, CA (June 21, 2004) — Four top Yamaha trombone artists performed at the International Trombone Festival to help introduce the new Xeno line of professional trombones.

Xeno Trombone Quartet
Yamaha Xeno Trombone quartet members (From L to R:) Peter Sullivan, Tom Brantley, Al Kay and Doug Yeo.
On June 17, 2004, Yamaha artists Peter Sullivan, Doug Yeo, Al Kay, and Tom Brantley performed for over 300 audience members in the Ford Recital Hall of Ithaca College. The previous day, all four musicians converged for their first rehearsal session in anticipation of the concert. Each member of the quartet brought several pieces with them for the group to perform, each being unique and special to that individual. The program consisted of a mix of pieces from traditional classical to a new jazz arrangement by Al Kay of a well known trombone quartet piece. Immediately the group noticed the amazing blend the Xeno trombones created, and the versatility of this special quartet was appreciated by the audience with a standing ovation.

These 4 amazing trombones artists were an inspiration to those in attendance, and a perfect showcase for the Xeno trombone.

Peter Sullivan is the principal trombone for the Pittsburgh Symphony; Tom Brantley teaches trombone at the University of South Florida and plays with the group Rhythm and Brass; Al Kay is a studio/gigging musician in Toronto, Canada; and Doug Yeo is the bass trombone player for Boston Symphony Orchestra.
