Yamaha Debuts mLAN16E Expansion Card

BUENA PARK, CA (June 18, 2004) — If you own a Motif ES Music Production Synthesizer and are ready to move up to mLAN connectivity, Yamaha Corporation of America, Digital Musical Instruments, has the solution with the mLAN16E expansion board.

The mLAN16E provides interface hardware and connections required to link the Motif ES to an mLAN network, Yamaha's high performance music networking protocol. This connection – via a IEEE 1394 "Firewire" cable – transforms the Motif ES into a 16-channel, 24-bit/96kHz computer audio and MIDI interface, and will also allow the Motif ES to interface with other mLAN products (such as the Yamaha 01X).

"Products like the mLAN16E are evidence of the simplicity of mLAN, and of Yamaha's commitment to the future of the protocol for computer-based music production," states Mike Martin, marketing manager, Digital Musical Instruments. "Simply install the mLAN16E in your MOTIF ES and it becomes an audio interface for your computer."

The mLAN16E includes the mLAN Patchbay application software for convenient audio and MIDI signal routing on both Macintosh and Windows XP-based systems.
