Scheiner to be Inducted Into TEC Hall of Fame

BUENA PARK, CA (August 6, 2004) — Famed engineer and producer Elliot Scheiner will be inducted into the TEC Awards Hall of Fame at the 20th Annual Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards on Saturday, October 30, 2004, during the 117th AES convention in San Francisco.

Elliot Scheiner
Scheiner has won five GRAMMY® Awards and has worked with a "Who's who" of multi-platinum artists.
The TEC Awards honor individuals, companies and technical innovations behind the sound of recordings, films, TV shows and live performances. Nominees include products, facilities and projects which represent superior accomplishments in the technical and creative fields. Voter guides and ballots are distributed to the U.S. readers of MIX magazine, who select the winners in August.

Scheiner, one of the most successful engineer/producers in the world, has won a total of five GRAMMY® Awards, winning his first in 1977 for Best Engineered Recording on the classic Steely Dan album Aja and his second in 1981 for Gaucho. In 2001, he garnered three for the band's Two Against Nature.

Over the course of his career, he has worked with a virtual "who's who" of multi-platinum artists including Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, The Doobie Brothers, Jimmy Buffett, America, Sting, John Fogerty, Bruce Hornsby and Natalie Cole.

Most recently, Scheiner has been a leading authority on 5.1 mixing and DVD-Audio, devoting himself almost exclusively to surround audio production and re-mixes. His Redding (CT)-based Eyeball Studios houses the first U.S. production model of the Yamaha DM2000 digital console and a 5.1 setup with MSP10 Studio powered monitors. Scheiner also uses a Yamaha AW16G workstation to record live band demos for his Bop City Records, an artist-friendly jazz label he co-owns with Al Schmitt and Ed Cherney.

"Elliot's track record speaks for itself," states Larry Italia, general manager, Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems Division. "We are not only proud to have him on our roster as a user and supporter of our products, but also agree that he is more than deserving of this award."

Scheiner will share the stage with co-Hall of Fame inductee and filmmaker George Lucas, while production team Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis will be awarded the prestigious Les Paul Award. The Yamaha 01V96 and PM5000 mixing consoles have also been nominated for TEC Awards in the respective categories of Outstanding Technical Achievement, Small Format Console Technology and Sound Reinforcement Console Technology.
