Yamaha Corps Wins at 2004 DCI!

Cavaliers at DCI Championships
DENVER, CO (August 9, 2004) — The Drum Corps International (DCI) World Championships were held August 5-7 at Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver, CO. Yamaha's involvement in the drum corps activity is extremely important for product development by field testing new and improved ideas that will help the corps and other similar groups excel at a higher performance level.

The winning program by the Cavaliers featured the music of the James Bond films – a very popular choice among the crowd. The Cadets (4th place) chose the music of Jethro Tull while the Scouts and Crossmen performed a medley of popular jazz and Latin drum corps favorites.

The Cavaliers finished as the world champions, their third title in the last four years. Marching entirely Yamaha brass and percussion, the Cavaliers added Yamaha sound reinforcement equipment to complete their program this year.

Prior to the 2004 season the DCI board of directors allowed the use of amplification for pit instruments. Of the nine groups who used amplification, seven used Yamaha Pro Audio gear including the 01V96.

One of the most respected corps in the activity, Santa Clara Vanguard purchased an entire set of new Yamaha brass instruments. Their 2004 program of the music of Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade was definitely a crowd favorite. The sound of the new brass instruments was a great improvement, and other groups took note of their new richness and depth of sound.
