HAMAMATSU and OSAKA, JAPAN (August 18, 2004) — Boston Symphony bass trombonist and Yamaha Artist Douglas Yeo tours Japan to give master classes and lessons, and to participate in many Yamaha-related events.

Artists like Douglas Yeo are the inspiration behind Yamaha wind instruments. It is their talent, knowledge, and imagination that fuels our design.

Douglas helped in the filming of our latest factory tour video, which will be available in late fall. He walks viewers through the various steps of trombone production, and shows the secrets behind Yamaha's great new models.

One of the world's best bass trombonists, Douglas Yeo of the Boston Symphony, participated in several different Yamaha promotions during a recent trip to Japan. Douglas served on the faculty of the Hamamatsu Wind Instrument Academy, an annual summer music program organized jointly by Yamaha and the city of Hamamatsu. This year marked the 10th anniversary of the festival, and featured performers and teachers from the top orchestras around the globe.

When the Academy was completed, Doug traveled to Osaka, where he gave private lessons to professional players, and conducted a master class attended by around 100 people – most of them trombonists! He later coached the trombones of the Yamaha Symphonic Band, who won the top prize in the prefectural concert band competition.
