BUENA PARK, CA — Yamaha Cares joined the members of "Alissa's Angels" and some 11,000 other volunteers to walk in the 14th annual "CHOC/Disneyland Resort Walk in the Park" to benefit the Children's Hospital of Orange County on Sunday, October 3 at Disneyland in Anaheim.

Alissa's Angels is a group of friends devoted to young Alissa Head, who has received cancer treatments at the hospital. Yamaha employee walkers helped boost Team Alissa's Angels total contribution to just over $28,000. All the money raised by Alissa's Angels goes directly to purchase more advanced equipment for the Neurological Floor at CHOC, with no administrative fees taken out.

While forming a team to participate in the hospital's annual "CHOC Walk" in 2000, a group of Alissa's girlfriends created the name "Alissa's Angels" for their fundraising efforts. Since then, Alissa's Angels has raised more than $130,000 for CHOC through its various activities, which also include an annual miniature golf tournament.

Yamaha employees Carol Baker, Marilyn Ellis, Christina Holthe, Joan Mackeben, Cathy Macbride and Brenda Schafer all walked with Alissa's Angels as part of the CHOC Walk.

As the only children's hospital in Orange County, CHOC has been on the forefront of pediatric healthcare since 1964. What began as a grassroots effort to build a regional pediatric healthcare facility in Orange County turned into a hospital complex that encompasses most of a city block in Orange, CA. CHOC at Mission was opened in 1993 to serve the children of south Orange County.
