BUENA PARK, CA (February 11, 2005) — Generations of professional and amateur musicians remember – and still own – their first Yamaha FG acoustic guitars. What was once an entry-level product line has stood the test of time against many higher priced and higher profile competitors, thanks to quality construction, playability, virtual indestructibility and superior tone. Yamaha Guitars honors the heritage and popularity of the FG with a completely new product line that includes a number of enhancements and vast improvements, while paying homage to the original line.

"This all-new Yamaha FG Series continues our rich tradition of providing quality, affordable acoustic guitars for every player," says Bryan Savage, marketing manager, Yamaha Guitars. "This line uses innovations developed for our high-end L Series handcrafted acoustics to remarkably improve tone and playability. At the same time, we have kept entry-level price points and the legendary FG durability. Yamaha has also improved manufacturing efficiency, so another key feature is improved dealer profitability."

Fifteen new models are currently shipping. Features include solid Spruce tops, die-cast Chrome hardware and a unique, non-scalloped X-bracing. An inverted L-block creates a tighter connection between the body and the neck, and also provides a deeper, fuller low end. In addition, customers now have options that include Rosewood and Sycamore back and side woods, acoustic-electric cutaways, left-handed versions and 12-strings.

"For decades, consumers and professionals have learned to play on Yamaha FG acoustics," adds Savage. "We are constantly told by customers that they still own and play the original Yamaha FG that they bought 30 years ago. It's really a testament to the value, quality and tradition that Yamaha the company has put into the FG guitars."
