Review: Monterey Symphony Hosts Yablonskaya

BUENA PARK, CA (April 8, 2005) — Yamaha Artist Oxana Yablonskaya earned glowing reviews for a March 5, 2005 performance with the Monterey Symphony at Sunset Center in Carmel, Calif. Peninsula Reviews editor Lyn Bronson praised Yablonskaya’s performance of the Grieg Piano Concerto on a Yamaha CFIIIS concert grand piano as “strong” and “truly beautiful.”

Under the direction of Maestro Max Bragado-Darman, Madame Yablonskaya gave a “strong and larger-than-life performance” on the “lovely” Yamaha CFIIIS concert grand, according to Bronson. She additionally noted that because the Grieg Concerto is a work heard more often on recordings than in live performance, “it is always a pleasure to hear it in concert.”

Especially beautiful in Yablonskaya’s performance, explained Bronson, was “the slow movement where her tone was gorgeous and her shaping of the musical line was sculpted with a loving reverence. It was in this slow movement that we could best hear the bell-like tones of the Yamaha concert grand’s high treble, and it was truly beautiful.”
