Yamaha Drums Bring The Beat to The Big Easy

BUENA PARK, CA (April 29, 2005) — The annual New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival enjoyed a ten-day run over two consecutive weekends this April, presenting virtually every style of music and food from the diverse cultures in Louisiana, along with unique regional arts and crafts.

Performers at this year's festival included a mix of more than 500 local legends and international artists from the worlds of Gospel, Jazz, Blues, Funk, Rock, Cajun, Zydeco, Latin, R&B, Jam, Hip-Hop and traditional African music, with a new festival stage devoted to traditional New Orleans brass bands, Secondline dance clubs and Mardi Gras Indians.

Yamaha was a repeat performer, providing Rydeen, Stage Custom Nouveau, Oak Custom, Absolute Birch and Absolute Maple Nouveau kits for the 13 stages as the festival's exclusive drum company.

Also back by popular demand on the Acura main stage was a Birch Custom kit decorated with the official Jazz Festival design, painted by Yamaha artist and former Tubes drummer Prairie Prince.

'It's a real honor to be a part of such a legendary festival in a musical hub like New Orleans," said Dave Jewell, Yamaha Drums marketing manager. 'The music's always great, the drum kits are always well-received, and Prairie's Birch Custom is always a great addition for the show."

In addition to Yamaha, official sponsors included Acura, Miller Lite, Popeyes, Fair Grounds Race Course, Sheraton New Orleans Hotel, BellSouth and Zatarain's. For more information, visit http://www.nojazzfest.com.
