Yamaha Ships Add-On Effects

BUENA PARK, CA (May 6, 2005) — Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems Division announces the delivery of five proprietary Add-On Effects for Yamaha’s Version 2 digital mixing consoles. The effects packages – Surround Post, Reverb, Channel Strip, Master Strip and Vintage Stomp – are designed to be used separately or in combination, and the control software is compatible with both Mac OS X and Windows 2000/XP platforms (NOTE: Version 2-level products or an upgrade to Version 2 software is required for operation).
“Yamaha’s digital mixers, such as the DM2000, DM1000, 02R96 and 01V96, have become standards for post- and production applications,” states Larry Italia, general manager, Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems Division. “These new effects packages will add even greater flexibility, performance and functionality to those products.”
Two of the packages have been produced with Yamaha’s proprietary Virtual Circuit Modeling (VCM), a technology that reproduces the physical modeling of analog circuitry down to the component level – including resistors and capacitors. VCM technology not only duplicates the sounds of existing vintage equipment, but also allows the user to create the best customized “gear” from those virtual components. “Having that kind of power brings an entirely new dimension to your Yamaha mixer, or to a specific task,” states Marc Lopez, product manager.

The Surround Post package, AE041 (Available Q3 2005), has been developed specifically for audio post-production and ADR applications. Features include Room ER, a surround room simulator for early reflections; Auto Doppler (Doppler Effect); and Field Rotation, which will rotate the perspective of entire 5.1 fields.
The Reverb package, AE031 (Currently available), includes the advanced REV-X algorithm from the Yamaha SPX2000 multi-effects processor. Programs include REV-X HALL, REV-X ROOM and REV-X PLATE.
The Channel Strip package, AE011 (Currently available), includes two new mono/stereo compressors and a six-band parametric EQ, each modeled after a combination of popular devices.
Master Strip, AE021 (Currently available), features Open Deck, a tape deck emulator that allows the user to select the “record” and “reproduction” decks, plus tape speed and type, independently.
Vintage Stomp, AE051 (Available Q3 2005), is ideal for music production and recording applications, and emulates the sounds of phasing stomp boxes including Max100, Vintage Phaser and Dual Phaser.
