Yamaha Donates Over $100,000 to Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation

Mr. Holland Opus
BUENA PARK, CA (May 13, 2005) — Yamaha’s Band & Orchestral Division recently provided a number of instruments to The Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation (MHOF). The donation includes 110 marching drums of various colors and sizes, as well as 66 student snare drums. The percussion instruments, storage and shipping give the donation a value of more than $100,000.

“As our many outreach programs demonstrate, Yamaha has long valued music education, and this donation to The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation only serves to demonstrate that,” states Roger Eaton, Director of Marketing, Yamaha Band & Orchestral Division. “We are delighted that we have this opportunity to help fulfill the needs of a number of students in schools all over the country.”

The MHOF supports music education and its many benefits through the donation of new and refurbished musical instruments to underserved school and community music programs and individual students nationwide.

“Since the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation started in 1997, Yamaha has always been there for us – and for music education,” states Felice Mancini, Executive Director, The Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation. “This donation is very meaningful as it comes at a time when the need for instruments seems to far outweigh our resources, and this will enable us to help many more schools. We’re most grateful to Yamaha that they have such confidence in our work.”
