BUENA PARK, CA (May 20, 2005) — For more than 20 years, the Yamaha BB has been the electric bass line of choice for players of every level. It has won the endorsement of artists that include Michael Anthony (Van Halen), Nathan East (Eric Clapton) and Tony Kanal (No Doubt). What’s more, vintage guitar collectors covet the original BB basses because of their association with high-profile musicians, distinctive body styling and sound, durable construction and playability.

Yamaha Guitars made a nostalgic return to the original classic body styling, vintage features and original colors when it recently unveiled the new BB400 and BB600 series electric bass lines. Seven new models – in two to three new colors each &3150; are currently available.

“The BB line has been the workhorse for so many musicians, both in the recording studio and on the stage,” says Bryan Savage, marketing manager, Yamaha Guitars. “Its style, features and quality truly epitomize what made Yamaha a major player in the bass market, and this new line recaptures the magic and tradition that started it all.”

Superb construction has always been the hallmark of the BB series. The new models live up to that standard with solid Alder bodies, bolt-on and -through Maple necks, Rosewood fingerboards, Soap Bar-type pickups and a choice of vintage finishes. The line includes active and passive electronics with 4- and 5-string, left-hand and fretless configurations. All models include Yamaha’s limited lifetime warranty.

“The fact that the BB is one of the few truly classic basses is really a tribute to Yamaha’s design ingenuity and craftsmanship,” states Ken Dapron, director of Yamaha Guitar Development, the company’s U.S. research and development custom shop and artist center. “The style and features on these new instruments truly captures what has made, and will continue to make, the BB Series so successful.”
