Yamaha Symphonic Band to be Featured at Midwest

Buena Park, CA (June 27, 2005) — The Yamaha Symphonic Band will be the featured guest performers at the 2005 Midwest Clinic (the world's largest international band and orchestra convention). This is a big honor and will be an exciting experience for the members of the ensemble. And Yamaha has been chosen to perform at the closing concert – the most prestigious spot in the schedule.

Now in its 45th year, the Yamaha Band is made up entirely of Yamaha employees. Most of them work in the B&O factory at Toyooka and some have even made the very instruments they are playing on! All are amateurs and usually rehearse a few evenings a week after work.

The band has won top prize at the All Japan Band Competitions 26 times (they are frequently asked to skip a year to let other bands have a chance) and they are a legend in the world of Japanese concert bands.

In addition to serious and pops concerts, they also participate in parades and sports events – the Yamaha Band opened one of the important matches at the 2002 Japanese Soccer World Cup and they frequently play for Yamaha soccer, rugby, and baseball games.
