BUENA PARK, CA (July 19, 2005) — Yamaha artist Frederic Chiu, renowned for his elegant and adventurous playing, offered “The Nijinsky Connection,” a program of works by Debussy, Ravel, Bolero, Prokofiev and Griffes, as part of the Maverick Concert series, on Saturday, July 9th.

Maverick Concerts is America’s oldest continuous summer chamber music series. The series thrives on the love of great music making, as well as the spirit of its bucolic setting in Woodstock, New York.

By offering concerts by nationally and internationally known performers at affordable prices, Maverick Concerts continues the vision of Hervey White, founder of the collaborative Maverick Colony. White drew the best of American musicians to Maverick to perform in his “music chapel” in the woods. This intimate, rustic setting, with its wonderful acoustics, is ideally suited to chamber music.

Volunteers built the hand-hewn concert hall in 1916. Restored in 1977, the hall is now a National Trust Historic Site. Learn more at www.maverickconcerts.org
