BUENA PARK, CA (August 12, 2005) — The renowned Impulse Drum and Bugle Corps performed a “thank you” concert on Tuesday, July 19 at the headquarters of Yamaha Corporation of America, which supports the corps with special purchase arrangements and a scholarship for the past two years.

With score highlights from Pixar's The Incredibles, the Impulse Drum and Bugle Corps served up a lunchtime treat for Yamaha employees on July 19.
Yamaha employees enjoyed the lunchtime treat, which featured about 40 minutes of music from Impulse’s 2005 season and score selections from the Pixar feature film The Incredibles.

Established in 1999 and affiliated with Cerritos College in Norwalk, Calif., Impulse Drum and Bugle Corps was the first corps to earn competitive status in its first year, and has been a Drum Corps International Div II Grand Finalist for the past three years. In 2004, Impulse placed sixth overall in the Grand Finals, advancing four spots from the previous season.

The acclaimed drum corps has been televised nationally, and has performed in the Huntington Beach Fourth of July Parade consecutively from 2001 through 2004 as well as in the Christmas 2002 Blockbuster Hollywood Spectacular.

Impulse carries Yamaha gear throughout the drumline, and uses Yamaha marching brass. “Impulse has been steadily moving up the ranks in DCI Division II,” says Yamaha Band & Orchestral Division Wind Instruments Product Manager Jeff Hawley. “They’re a deeply talented and dedicated group, and we’re proud of our association with them and know they’ll continue to build on their early success.”

Yamaha Cares uses charitable donations, product donations and hands-on help to promote education, arts, health and human services and community development in the areas where Yamaha employees live and work, and to spread the gift of music to people throughout America.

“This is a wonderful group of performers, and it’s a privilege to play a part in their growth,” says Yamaha Corporation of America Vice President of Human Resources, Carol Baker, who oversees the Yamaha Cares program.
