BUENA PARK, CA (October 14, 2005) — The YCL-221 bass clarinet from Yamaha Corporation of America, Band & Orchestral Division, has recently undergone a series of redesigns.

Already preferred by college students thanks to its warm sound and excellent response, the lower joint length has been extended by 10 mm, the design and location of the upper joint toneholes have been modified and the bell tonehole is smaller.

The bass clarinet also features Yamaha’s pro-neck angle, exclusive to this model, enabling a more natural playing position.

The matte finish ABS body on the YCL-221 provides a better appearance by showing fewer handling marks and a lighter weight than a Grenadilla wood body. The easy-to-assemble joint system and rounded key connector make this an ideal instrument for students. The smaller case design makes it easy to carry the clarinet back and forth to school, and requires less storage space.

“The YCL-221 has always been popular among schools because of the high quality and the small, easily portable case,” states Kurt Witt, Marketing Manager, Winds, Yamaha Band & Orchestral Division.

The YCL-221 is currently available.
