New Student Bass Clarinet

In August 2005, the newly redesigned YCL-221II student bass clarinet started to arrive to schools and dealer across the country. This new bass clarinet has been updated and modified to improve some key elements based around improving the overall intonation of the instrument. These revisions include:

  • Extension of the lower joint 10mm to help improve intonation in the lower register

  • Redesign and repositioning of the toneholes throughout the upper joint

  • Size reduction on the bell tonehole
These revisions have helped to make the YCL-221II one of the industry leaders for quality, durability and precision of intonation. Some of the same features that students and educators grew to love include the lightweight ABS resin case and the compact, two-piece body style.
