Yamaha Cares and Alissa's Angels Release Holiday CD Give To Benefit Children's Hospital of Orange County

BUENA PARK, CA (November 11, 2005) — Yamaha Cares and the homegrown charitable group “Alissa’s Angels” have created Give, a CD of favorite holiday tunes, to benefit the Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) Neuroscience Institute in California.

CHOC Holiday CD
Paul Williams, Jim Brickman and Phillip Keveren are among the artists who have donated their time and talent to the creation of this one-of-a-kind disc, which features 19 selections including traditional tunes like “Deck the Halls,” “Jingle Bells” and “O Holy Night” alongside original compositions such as the title track “Give,” by Williams and Joel Plimmer, and “Silver Screen Holiday,” penned by freelance composer Jason Nyberg.

Among the special performances on Give is nine-year-old Kodi Lee’s vocal on “Jingle Bells.” Kodi suffers from both optic nerve hypoplasia – which has taken his eyesight – and autism, but his prowess as a musician has led to recordings, concert appearances and his own website. The Yamaha OK Chorale, an employee group, performs Plimmer’s “Christmas Time is Ringing Out,” and veteran specialists Sue Downs and Tom Folenta chime in with tracks of their own.

“Over the years, Alissa and her ‘Angels’ have built such a wonderful program to benefit the children’s hospital, and I can’t think of a better fit for them than a fundraising CD called Give that’s keyed to the season of giving,” says Yamaha Corporation of America Vice President of Human Resources, Carol Baker, who oversees the Yamaha Cares program. “From the fantastic music to the painting Alissa did herself to adorn the cover, it’s something we’ll treasure, and I hope it finds its way into as many homes as possible.”

The production of the CD was made possible through services donated by Woodridge Press, Media Management and Precise Media, and Vertis, Inc.

Give is available for a donation of $15. The CDs can be ordered by e-mailing Alissas.Angels@verizon.net or by calling Alissa at (714) 848-9147. She and the ‘Angels’ are selling it in person at a variety of Orange County locations as well, and the CD is also available through Yamaha Cares. Alissa’s Angels is a group of friends devoted to young Alissa Head, who has received cancer treatments at CHOC. The group came together for the hospital’s annual “CHOC/Disneyland Resort Walk in the Park” fundraiser in 1999, and to date, they have raised more than $190,000 in a variety of joint projects. All the money raised by Alissa’s Angels goes directly to purchase more advanced equipment for the CHOC Neuroscience Institute.

Making a mark in pediatric healthcare for more than 40 years and named by Child Magazine as one of the Top 25 children's hospitals in the country, Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) is exclusively committed to the health and well being of children through clinical expertise, advocacy and outreach.
