Yamaha Wins at 2005 Bands of America!

Indianapolis, IN (November 12, 2005) — The Bands of America Grand National Championship is recognized as the pinnacle of events for the nation's marching band activity. With performances by 90 bands from across the nation, exhibition performances and three days of special events, Grand Nationals is widely acknowledged by the band world to be the most exciting and prestigious marching band event. The three day event also includes an Expo, Student Leadership Workshop, Celebrate America!, the Indianapolis Public Schools Marching Band Tournament and other special events and clinics. Several schools that use Yamaha instruments excelled during the weekend including Carmel High School from Carmel, IN who was the 2005 BOA Grand National Champions. Listed below are some other schools that placed high during the final performance:

– 1st Place –

Carmel High School, Indiana – following up their 3rd place finish in 2004, Carmel High School performed an amazing program titled "Suspended Cymbals" to capture the title. Led by instructors active with Yamaha drum corps including the Cavaliers and Bluecoats, Carmel High School plays entirely Yamaha brass and percussion.

– 2nd Place –

L.D. Bell High School, Texas – One of the top marching bands in Texas, L.D. Bell featured a program written by some of the most talented DCI writers and arrangers. L.D. Bell placed 5th at the 2003 Grand National Championships and uses entirely Yamaha percussion and mostly Yamaha marching brass.

– 5th Place –
Lawrence Central, Indiana – As returning champion from 2004, Lawrence Central did not disappoint with a entertaining 2005 program. Using entirely Yamaha brass and percussion, the LC band proved again they are among the top competitive marching bands in the United States.

– Special Mention – 8th Place

Tarpon Springs High School, Florida – Based on original music titled "Pathways", the Tarpon Springs band made creative use of props and signs highlighting a number of life pathways. An especially moving point in their show paid tribute to Civil Rights pioneer, Rosa Parks. Tarpon Springs uses entirely Yamaha marching brass and percussion.

– Special Mention – 10th Place

Plymouth Canton Educational Park High School, Michigan – A perennial BOA finalist with creative and unique shows, this years performance was no different with a theme titled "Performing Inside Out". The Plymouth Canton marching band has performed on Yamaha brass and percussion for many years, capturing numerous state and national titles.
