Oxana Yablonskaya To Perform At Carnegie's Zankel Hall

NEW YORK, N.Y. — On March 3, 2006 The Chopin Society of New York will present acclaimed pianist Oxana Yablonskaya, who will perform a program that includes works by Weinberg, Beethoven, Rachmaninoff and Chopin, in its inaugural concert.

WQXR Radio personality David Dubal will host the concert event, which will include performances of Weinberg's Sonata No. 6, Op. 73; Beethoven's Sonata No. 30, Op. 109; Rachmaninoff's "Variations on a Theme by Corelli," Op. 42; Three Nocturnes by Chopin (B flat minor, Op. 9, No. 1, G major, Op. 37, No. 2 and F major, Op. 15, No. 2). The program will additionally include Chopin's Barcarolle in F sharp major, Op. 60 and the Sonata No. 2 in B flat minor, Op 35.

Ms. Yablonskaya is an active soloist, chamber music performer and professor at The Juilliard School of Music. She is a winner of three international competitions: the Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud Competition in Paris, the International Beethoven Competition and the Rio de Janeiro Competition.

Among her numerous recordings, Ms. Yablonskaya's Liszt/Schubert CD won the Grand Prix du Disque from the International Liszt Society in Budapest. She has served on the jury of international piano competitions in United Kingdom, Korea, Japan, Taiwan and elsewhere. Ms. Yablonskaya is a Yamaha Artist and artistic advisor to Yamaha Artist Services, Inc. in New York.

The mission of the Chopin Society of New York is to promote Chopin's music, the music of other Polish composers and classical music in general within the New York tri-state area in an easily accessible manner. The society also seeks to support and develop amateur pianists, as well as young professional pianists from around the world, in their career development.
