Ching-Yun Hu Recital At Yamaha Artist Services

NEW YORK, N.Y. — Award-winning pianist and Yamaha Artist Ching-Yun Hu will performed a solo recital of works by Granados, Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven and Prokofiev at Yamaha Artist Services on April 5, 2006.

The program included Hu's interpretations of "El Amor y la Muerte," from Goyescas, Granados; "Sonata in D Major, K. 576," Mozart; "Rondo in E-Flat Major," Op. 16, Chopin; "Variations in c minor, WoO 80," Beethoven; and "Sonata No. 6 in A Major, Op. 82," Prokofiev.

Critics have described 23-year-old Taipei native Ching-Yun Hu as "an artist with the soul of Chopin." Hu has just completed the European leg of a world tour; she made her debut as a professional soloist at age 13 with the Poland Capella Cracoviensis Chamber Orchestra. Following engagements with the Philadelphia and Aspen Concert Orchestras, Hu enrolled at The Juilliard School of Music pre-college program, eventually earning Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the school.

Hu has won Second Prize and was cited as pianist with most potential as the youngest competitor in the 1998 Taipei International Piano Competition. She also has won the 1999 Chopin International Competition of Taipei; the 2001 Puigcerda International Piano Competition; and both the California International Young Artist Competition and the Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Competition in 2003.
