The quartet includes two SV-200 Studio Solid-body Silent Violins, one SVV-200 Studio Solid-body Silent Viola and one SVC-100 Silent Cello. Packaged in this way, the quartet offers an electronic performance ensemble to professionals as well as students. All instruments can be played silently, using headphones, or through an amplifier, resulting in a warm, full-bodied tone.

Each instrument features a professional, studio-quality pre-amp; dual piezo pickups; a maple neck; a spruce body; acoustic-like feel and ergonomics; and the ability to use any standard shoulder rest (except cello).

Bathed in a Pearl White color, the Silent String Quartet offers a professional look and standout stage appearance.

"Yamaha Silent Strings are recognized by professional and hobbyist string players as the most innovative of string products," says Ken Dattmore, Marketing Manager, Strings, Yamaha's Band & Orchestral Division. "With the phenomenal success of our three Silent String Quartets, offering a limited edition in a beautiful pearl white color will help student and professional string quartets look as beautiful as they sound."

The Silent Quartet instruments can be used in conjunction with Yamaha's MagicStomp, an effects processor loaded with 198 digital sound programs; the Yamaha SX-6 Silent Studio Ensemble Mixer, which enables players to control the group's balance, mix and record rehearsals; and Yamaha's LC2 music lab controller, which offers educators the ability to create virtual practice rooms in a classroom setting.

The Pearl White Silent String Quartet is currently available.
