Yamaha Introduces The Clavinova CLP-240 In Polished Ebony

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Yamaha Corporation of America, Piano Division, introduces the CLP-240PE, marking the first time a mid-line Clavinova has been offered in a high-end, polished ebony finish.

"It's unusual to offer such a luxurious finish in a mid-range model," comments Clavinova Marketing Manager Jim Levesque. "Inspired by the rich, glossy look of a concert grand, this beautiful new finish complements the exquisite playability and expressiveness that sets the CLP apart from all other digital pianos."

The striking enhancement serves as a follow up to the fall 2005 debut of the CLP-200 Series of Clavinovas, which was met with acclaim from piano distributors and buyers across the nation. The CLP-200 Series are innovative digital pianos that elegantly capture the sound of a grand piano in all of its natural grandeur and beauty, while offering a range of interactive options for users. The CLP-240PE model utilizes three-level DSS (Dynamic Stereo Sampling) in its AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) tone generation piano voices, for a remarkably realistic, richly expressive piano sound.

The new DSS system includes recordings of a wide range of dynamics – from loud to soft – to fully capture the varying nuances in timbre and tone of a grand piano. The two-way built-in speaker system delivers powerful, dynamic sound throughout the entire sonic range.

The instrument also has a sophisticated Dynamic Damper Effect that recreates the subtle resonances heard when using the damper pedal on an actual grand piano, and uses Stereo Sustain and Key-Off samples to deliver a degree of realism and expression rarely found in an electronic keyboard. The two USB terminals, one for connecting to a computer, the other for saving data to a USB storage device, enables users to take full advantage of the powerful possibilities in computer music.

The model also provides the ground-breaking Graded Hammer Effect 3 (GH3) technology. Heavy in the lower end and light in the upper keys, the CLP's GH3 technology provides the characteristic weight balance between key and hammer, and replicates the weight gradations of the keys found in an acoustic grand.

The CLP-240PE is currently available.
