Yamaha Introduces Redesigned Soprano, Tenor Saxophones

An upgrade for the discontinued YSS-475, the YSS-475II soprano saxophone is designed for middle and high school students as well as amateur musicians. A redesigned body taper provides enhanced intonation, while the improved ribbing adds to the strength and tonal quality. In addition, the new keys are lighter and tapered to provide more comfort and laser engraving adds to the aesthetic beauty of the saxophone.
"This instrument incorporates all that we learned when developing the highly successful line of EX custom saxophones into the creation of a truly great intermediate level soprano saxophone," states Kurt Witt, Marketing Manager, Winds, Yamaha Corporation of America.
The YTS-875EX tenor saxophone boasts a number of improvements to the discontinued YTS-875, most notably redesigned bracing to make the instrument more free-blowing and a new G3 neck designed to give more projection, enhanced intonation and improved tuning.
In addition, redesigned key placement and hooks improve comfort, while smaller tone hole diameters on certain notes improve intonation.
"The YTS-875EX is a further extension of the Yamaha EX line of custom saxophones," states Witt, "rounding out the series and providing a great new instrument to match the quality and sound the EX is known for."
