Of particular note was the Assemblies of God Fine Arts Festival, held this past August in Orlando, Florida. Mike Overlin, Manager of Worship Services, Yamaha Corporation of America, presented a range of seminars at this event, entitled "How to Run Sound for Your Band (or Your Church)," "Recording for Musicians and Songwriters", "How to Play Really, Really Loud Without Getting Kicked Out of Your Church!" and "Turning Your Computer Into a Studio: Software Based Recording."

"Our attendance at these shows enables us to stay in touch with the needs of this very vital audience," notes Overlin. "It is exciting to interact with and help educate the worship market in this way."

Yamaha's Institutional and Commercial Services upcoming show schedule will also take them to the following educational and worship forums over the next few months: International Association of Jazz Educators (N.Y.), NAMM (Calif.), Texas Music Educators Association, National School Boards Association (Ill.), MENC National (Utah), Seminars4Worship (Pa. and Texas), Christian Musician Summit (Wash.) and the Midwest Clinic (Ill.).

The ICS Department was established to reinforce Yamaha's long-term commitment to both the educational and worship markets. The work of the ICS department encompasses all Yamaha musical instrument product groups from the Piano, PAC and B&O divisions, and serves to represent all those areas in the institutional market.

"Yamaha's positioning in the worship market, and what sets our initiatives apart from competitors, is that our priority is educating and building long-term relationships with this audience," adds Overlin. "No other manufacturer offers such a comprehensive product line with the same quality and consistency."

Additional projects also include the recent development of a worship-specific website with information on seminars, products and end-user profiles.
