Jerome Rose Plays Chopin: Recording Session Performed Live At Yamaha Artist Services, Inc.

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Audiences at Yamaha Artist Services, Inc. recently enjoyed two evenings of musical history in the making as legendary pianist Jerome Rose took to the stage in his first-ever DVD recording sessions. Two distinct sessions, held in November and December, included Chopin's four Ballades at the first concert, and two sonatas by Chopin at the second.

Jerome Rose is one of America's most distinguished pianists and has been heard in major concert halls across five continents. A Gold Medalist from the International Busoni Competition, Mr. Rose began his international career while still in his early twenties. He has appeared with such orchestras as the Berlin Philharmonic, Munich Philharmonic, Vienna Symphony, and the Santa Cecilia Orchestra in Rome. A frequent visitor to London, he has appeared with the London Philharmonic, London Symphony, and the Royal Philharmonic.

A pupil of Adolph Baller, Mr. Rose debuted with the San Francisco Symphony at the age of 15. A Mannes College and Juilliard School of Music graduate, Mr. Rose also studied with Leonard Shure and Rudolf Serkin at Marlboro Music School. He was a Fulbright Scholar in Vienna as well. Mr. Rose has given masterclasses at the Moscow Conservatory, the Chopin Academy in Warsaw, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Munich Hochschule, and is a frequent guest at the Toho Conservatory of Music in Tokyo, Japan. He is on the Faculty of the Mannes College of Music and is Founder/Director of the International Keyboard Institute & Festival held every summer in New York City. Mr. Rose was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Music from the State University of New York for his lifetime achievement in music.
