The Chopin Society of New York Presents an Evening with Legendary Pianist Oxana Yablonskaya

BUENA PARK, Calif. — On Friday, December 15, The Chopin Society of New York presented an exclusive evening of Chopin music with acclaimed pianist Oxana Yablonskaya and special guests cellist Dmitry Yablonsky, soprano Inna Dukach and flutist Sarah Brady. WQXR Radio personality David Dubal offered the introduction to the performance, held in Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall.

Program selections included: Grand Duo on themes from Meyerbeer's Robert Le Diable for flute and piano (1832); Four Songs: Hulanka, Moja Pieszczotka, Melodia, Wojak; Five Mazurkas: Coquette, L'Oiselette, La Jeune Fille, Berceuse, La Danse; Sonata for Cello and Piano, Op. 65; and Polonese Brillante for Cello and Piano in C Major, Op. 3.

Oxana Yablonskaya is an active soloist, chamber music performer and professor at The Juilliard School of Music. She is a prize winner of three international competitions: the Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud Competition in Paris, the International Beethoven Competition and the Rio de Janeiro Competition.

Among her numerous recordings, Ms. Yablonskaya's Liszt/Schubert CD won the Grand Prix du Disque from the International Liszt Society in Budapest. She has served on the jury of international piano competitions in Leeds, Seoul, Hamamatsu, Taiwan and elsewhere. Ms. Yablonskaya is a Yamaha Artist and artistic advisor to Yamaha Artist Services, Inc. in New York.

The mission of the Chopin Society of New York is to promote Chopin's music and the music of other Polish composers and classical music in general within the New York tri-state area in an easily accessible manner. The society also seeks to support and develop amateur pianists, as well as young professional pianists from around the world, in their career development.
