Yamaha Enhances Acclaimed CLP-200 Series Of Digital Pianos

BUENA PARK, Calif. — At Winter NAMM 2007, Yamaha Corporation of America, Piano Division, will introduce key enhancements to its highly popular CLP-200 Series of Clavinova digital pianos, including the debut of two grand piano-style models, the CLP-265GP and the CLP-295GP.

The CLP-265GP
The CLP-265GP offers a luxurious polished ebony mini grand case cabinet, along with a range of the key CLP-200 Series technologies, including a Graded Hammer 3 (GH3) keyboard for true grand piano feel, Stereo Sampling AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) tone generation, and PC interface (USB TO HOST).

Replacing the CLP-175, the CLP-295GP offers the same stunning polished ebony grand cabinet, AWM tone generation and PC interface. This top-of-the-line model additionally features Yamaha's iAFC (Instrumental Active Field Control) System, which enhances and enriches the piano sound to match the acoustics of the room in which it's played. The CLP-295GP also offers a natural wood keyboard with real-wood white keys.

Retailers at Winter NAMM will also see the debut of the CLP-220PE and CLP-230PE, which, along with the popular CLP-240PE, now offers a high-end, polished ebony finish for the Series' lower-end models.

"We're delighted to offer additional refinements to the CLP-200 line," says Jim Levesque, Clavinova Marketing Manager. "The beauty of the instruments, as well as their high level of performance, has rightfully made this line a favorite of retailers and customers alike."

First launched to the music products industry in fall 2006, the CLP-200 Series are innovative digital pianos that elegantly capture the sound of a grand piano in all of its natural grandeur and beauty, while offering a range of interactive options for users. All feature Advanced Wave Memory tone generation technology, which creates powerful, realistic instrumental sounds. The piano voices, in particular, benefit from the new Dynamic Stereo Sampling (DSS) system, which includes recordings of a wide range of dynamics – from loud to soft – to fully capture the varying nuances in timbre and tone of a grand piano.

Select models of the CLP-200 Series include Key-Off and Stereo Sustain samples, as well as a new three-way speaker system, an enlarged memory, iAFC technology and USB connectivity. Most models incorporate the ground-breaking Graded Hammer Effect 3 (GH3) technology, while the CLP-280 includes a natural wood keyboard made with real-wood white keys. Heavy in the lower end and light in the upper keys, the CLP's GH3 technology provides the characteristic weight balance between key and hammer, and replicates the weight gradations of the keys found in an acoustic grand.

The new Clavinovas also include a selection of digitally sampled musical instrument sounds. The CLP-280/270/240 are the first Clavinovas to feature both USB TO HOST and TO DEVICE terminals, enabling users to simultaneously connect to a computer (TO HOST) to select from the vast possibilities in computer music and hook up to their favorite USB storage device (TO DEVICE) for storing valuable song data.
