Yamaha Offers Cable Nelson Brand In New Satin Walnut Finish

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Offering high quality at an affordable price, Yamaha's Cable Nelson brand is now available in a luxurious Satin Walnut finish and will be shown at Winter NAMM 2007. Cable-Nelson model CN126 SW is a 45" studio-size vertical piano that features a traditional furniture style cabinet. Backed by Yamaha's reputation and acclaimed service and support team, the instrument will be offered at a low price point, in order to better support dealers in their promotional efforts and generating store traffic.

"This attractive new finish is intended to appeal to American tastes and home décor," states Paul Calvin, Yamaha Piano Division General Manager. "It also signals the continued expansion of the Cable-Nelson line to meet the demands of customers who wish to own an instrument designed and built by Yamaha, but at a lower price point."

Yamaha reintroduced the classic Cable-Nelson brand at Winter NAMM 2006. Presented as an entry-level, Yamaha quality piano, this revived brand is produced at Yamaha's new factory outside of Shanghai, China, with all design and manufacture executed by Yamaha, using its employees and equipment. The Cable-Nelson product offers the same 10-year warranty as other Yamaha brands, with the full support of Yamaha Corporation of America.

The Cable-Nelson brand traces its roots to 1903 in Chicago, when Fayette S. Cable purchased two small piano companies. These companies, Lakeside Piano Company and Sweetland Piano Company, then became the Fayette S. Cable Piano Company. The Cable-Nelson brand resulted from a merger with the Nelson Piano Company in 1905.

The Everett Piano Company bought Cable-Nelson in the late 1920's, moving its manufacturing operation to South Haven, Michigan. In 1954, the Hammond Organ company acquired both Everett Piano and Cable-Nelson. Yamaha purchased both Everett and Cable-Nelson in 1973. While Everett piano production continued, the production of Cable-Nelson pianos ended in 1981.
