Yamaha's MIE3XG Poised To Revolutionize Music Education In America

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Yamaha Corporation of America's Institutional and Commercial Services (ICS) Department recently introduced the Music In Education (MIE) 3XG system. MIE3XG brings a new strategy to education – one centered on content, rather than keyboards.

The MIE3XG system features an extension of applications that are changing the way music is taught. The printed books were developed jointly with Hal Leonard, more user-friendly cabling provides teachers with a better environment, the keyboard is a new color and the voice structure has been rearranged. In addition, education iMacs will be provided with the MIE3XG.

Yamaha's MIE3XG is the first with an at-home appliance, and the first with seamless interface, incorporating hardware, software and the classroom. The new system extends the music classroom to the home with "MIE@Home," on-line hosting of content for music homework integrated into the framework of Yamaha Digital Music Notebook. The company will provide unique proprietary content, as well as work with additional manufacturers in content development.

"We believe the MIE3XG will change the conventional wisdom of how general music education is taught in this country," states Walt Straiton, Manager, MIE. "Ultimately, this new system is about process, not product or price."

Currently, approximately one million children use Yamaha's Music In Education system each week.
