Dealers Choose YPG-625 as Product of the Year

BUENA PARK, Calif. — The votes are in, and the YPG-625 portable keyboard from Yamaha Corporation of America is the winner of the 2007 Music & Sound Award for Product of Year. Winners of the award, which is sponsored by Music & Sound Retailer, are determined by dealers, who submit their votes to the magazine.

Music & Sound Retailer editor Brian Berk (l) with Mark Anderson (c), Yamaha's Portable Keyboards marketing manager and Tom Sumner (r), vice president/general manager of Yamaha's Pro Audio & Combo Division.
"This is one of the more prestigious awards in our field, since it's one that is voted on solely by dealers," said Mark Anderson, marketing manager, Portable Keyboards, Pro Audio & Combo Division. "We knew that the YPG-625 would be successful, but we had no idea it would be this well-received."

In addition to the YPG-625, which also won the award for Best Keyboard/Sound Module, other Yamaha products earning a Music & Sound Award include the EMX5016cf (Best Mixer/Console), the Tour Custom Drum Kit (Best Drum Set) and Steinberg Cubase 4 (Best Music Software/Multimedia).

"Yamaha had an excellent year," said Brian Berk, editor of Music & Sound Retailer. "Retail store owners said Yamaha had the Product of the Year, not our editorial staff. Winning that category is an incredible accomplishment."

The computer-compatible YPG-625 is packed with features and functions, including 88 Graded Hammer weighted action keys with Portable Keyboard Styles, high resolution Live! Grand Piano stereo sample, USB storage capability, five types of Master EQ and a large LCD lyric and score display. It also includes a wooden stand and a sustain pedal.
