Infinity Percussion Ensemble Plays Yamaha

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Infinity Percussion Ensemble of East Orlando, Florida recently formed an official relationship with Yamaha and will use Yamaha marching percussion products exclusively. Their recent purchase includes Snare Drums, Bass Drums and Multi-Toms in a Silky Silver finish, as well as vibraphones and marimbas with the Multi-Frame II systems, a drum set and pro audio equipment, including an O1V96 Digital Mixer.

Infinity Percussion is dedicated to providing a well-rounded, complete percussion experience for high school and college musicians. This is the ensemble's third year in competition, with the staff and majority of the members having competed the first two years under the name 1st Degree. Last year the group won its first Winter Guard International (WGI) Championship; this year, Infinity Percussion will be participating in the WGI Independent Marching World Class for the 2007 competition season, with finals in Dayton, Ohio this April. In all, more than 150 units will compete at championships.

"When embarking on the new Infinity project, the members and staff realized the importance of our instrument quality from the start," says Infinity Percussion Director John Campese. "Yamaha is the only company that could provide professional gear from the front to the back of our ensemble. Our world class musicians are proud to use Yamaha's world class products!"

Winter Guard International is known as the "Sport of the Arts," as it brings music to life through performance in a competitive format. Having evolved out of Drum Corps International, WGI is the nonprofit youth organization leading the winter guard and indoor percussion activities. Its percussion division was founded in 1992 and color guard founded in 1977. Now entering its 30th year, WGI holds regional contests all over the United States and has more than 40 local circuits sponsoring indoor drumline shows during the competitive season (February to April).

"Florida is a hotbed of activity for percussion students," says Troy Wollwage, Yamaha Percussion Marketing Manager. "With the staff Infinity has on board, the talent level will no doubt grow each year. To attract top level talent and keep them evolving as musicians, it is important to have quality instruments to play on. Yamaha is excited about the opportunity to work with Infinity and to help get more kids involved in music."
