Yamaha Announces New Artist Relations Subsidiary

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Yamaha Corporation of America (YCA) today announced that Yamaha Corporate Artist Affairs (YCAA), a department of the Music Marketing Group based in Franklin, Tennessee, will become a company subsidiary as Yamaha Corporate Artist Affairs, Inc.

Rick Young, Chris Gero and Terry Lewis
Rick Young, (l) Corporate Vice President for YCAA, Inc. and Chris Gero, (c) Vice President of YCAA, Inc. Terry Lewis (r), is President of the new subsidiary.
As a new subsidiary, YCAA, Inc. will continue its mission to support and help serve the needs of contemporary musical artists throughout the United States and around the world. As it had done as a department, the subsidiary will act as YCA's primary liaison with the global community of contemporary musical artists.

"One of our most important assets at Yamaha is our artist roster. These artists inspire many to be musicians and they strongly influence the buying habits of the musical products market. The connection among artists, customers and our products is critical," said YCA Executive Vice President Terry Lewis. "YCA has the proud distinction of managing more artist relationships than any other music and sound company in the world. By establishing YCAA as an independent subsidiary, we will be able to provide an even greater level of commitment to our artists, and continue to make the Yamaha brand, legendary quality and century-old tradition of excellence known to the millions of professional, amateur and student musicians the world over."

The restructured YCAA, Inc., will mirror the existing Yamaha Artist Services, Inc. (YASI). Based in New York, YASI is dedicated to serving the needs of classical performing artists. YCAA, Inc. provides instrument loans for artists, underwrites music instruction programs and individual schools, provides loans of musical instruments for use in television and motion pictures and produces philanthropic benefit concert events.

Additionally, YCAA, Inc. works with a roster of international music stars to promote music awareness and education, as well as underscore the breadth and quality of the Yamaha brand. A partial list Yamaha artists includes Sir Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney, Tony Bennett, Norah Jones, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Michael McDonald, Michael Bublé and Chick Corea.

Chris Gero, who is currently serving as YCAA director, will assume the position of vice president of YCAA, Inc. Gero will continue to manage the company's worldwide relationships with Yamaha artists – a responsibility that includes concert production, imaging, piano logistics, media operations, tour planning, endorsements, production of the artist publication All Access, and occasional visits by the musicians themselves.

Terry Lewis will be president of the new subsidiary. Rick Young, currently vice president, YASI, will assume the duties of a corporate vice president for YCAA, Inc. He will also continue to serve in his new position as corporate vice president and general manager, Pro Audio and Combo (PAC) Division. Jay Schreiber, general manager of Yamaha's Band and Orchestral (B&O) Division, will replace Mr. Young as vice president, YASI.
