For the past two years, Brandom has served as Senior Technical Manager and was responsible for Disklavier Product Development and Disklavier technical service instruction in the United States. In his new position, he is charged with broad responsibilities for the commercial success of one of Yamaha's flagship instrument lines.

"Bill is uniquely qualified for this position as he has been actively involved with the Disklavier product since its introduction in 1987," says Paul Calvin, vice president and general manager, Yamaha Piano Division. "His knowledge of the product and of our dealer network, along with his existing relationships with the members of the Yamaha Corporation of Japan engineering staff, provide him with the tools needed to help Yamaha Piano Division grow our Disklavier sales into the future."

The Disklavier, available in a wide variety of styles and configurations, is a reproducing piano that uses advanced digital technology to record and recreate live performances on the real keys, hammers, pedals and strings of a classically designed acoustic instrument. Yamaha's continual innovation of the Disklavier has led to an industry first: the instrument has been honored for the sixth consecutive year with Musical Merchandise Review Magazine's "Dealer's Choice Award" as "Product of the Year." The Disklavier also won the Music Teachers National Association's (MTNA) Frances Clark Keyboard Pedagogy Award for 2006. Typically awarded to educators, this marks the first time a music product has received the honor.

"The Disklavier has achieved clear superiority as an outstanding performance and entertainment instrument in a wide range of private and public venues," Brandom says. "It has likewise proven its value as a powerful and innovative tool for music educators and students."

Brandom began his career in the music industry as a pianist and a piano technician. He refined his skills in Kansas City before joining the Yamaha family, initially with the Everett Piano Company in South Haven, Michigan. Brandom has worked with Yamaha Corporation of America for nearly 27 years and extensively with the Disklavier and its development since its introduction into the United States in 1987. His previous responsibilities as Yamaha's Piano Service Manager for over 25 years required numerous trips to Japan to work directly with Disklavier engineers. He was also highly involved in the 2006 Minnesota International Piano-e-Competition, recording auditions performed in Shanghai, New York, Paris and Los Angeles.

"After working for many years in product development and technology related to the Disklavier," Brandom continues, "I am excited to apply my knowledge and experience with this wonderful product to marketing efforts directed at consumers and stakeholders in education, the music industry, and throughout the global economy."
