Yamaha Drums Provides the Rhythmic Foundation for the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Yamaha Drums provided drum kits for all 11 stages at the 38th annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell. Yamaha Drums has sponsored the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival since 1985, a commitment that has intensified after Hurricane Katrina. This year, attendance topped 375,000, up almost 50,000 from 2006.

Getting into the groove, with the help of Yamaha Drums
"The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, with the help of Yamaha Drums, is spreading the rhythm of New Orleans to the world," said Reginald Toussaint, Staging & Production Director at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell. "This is such an important event to New Orleans and by helping the festival, Yamaha is also helping the city."

Yamaha Drums works with Ray Fransen's Drum Center in Kenner, La. to supply and service the festival's drum kits. After suffering damage in Hurricane Katrina, the store, Louisiana's oldest and largest drum shop, moved to larger quarters. At the festival's end, the drums used on the stages are sold to the public.

"It's wonderful to see the festival and the city return to its historic role as the heartbeat of American music."
