Pearl Jam Drummer Finds the Kit of His Dreams

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Yamaha's Steve Gadd Signature 30th Anniversary Drum Set lives up to the legendary drummer's legacy, according to Pearl Jam's stick man Matt Cameron, who is using the kit on tour this year. The kit, only 100 of which were produced, is a replica of the custom set that Gadd has used for almost 20 years.

Matt Cameron gives his drum set a workout with Pearl Jam in Munich, Germany.
"It is the best sounding kit I've ever played," said Cameron.

The drum set mixes wood types according to Gadd's exacting specifications, including a Maple custom bass drum, Birch toms and a Gadd Signature Snare Drum that is extremely sensitive at all dynamic levels. Each kit also includes a certificate of authenticity personally signed by the legend himself.

Cameron, who started playing drums at the age of 14, joined two-time Grammy® Award winning band Soundgarden in 1986. After the band split up in 1997, he joined Pearl Jam and has played with them ever since. The band recently completed a European tour and performed in August at Lollapalooza in Chicago.

Steve Gadd, a Yamaha artist for more than 30 years, is one of the most acclaimed, influential and accomplished drummers of his generation. He has played with a variety of artists, including Eric Clapton, Paul Simon, Steely Dan, James Taylor, The Bee Gees, Quincy Jones, Carly Simon, Paul McCartney and Frank Sinatra.
