UCLA Bruin Solid Gold Marching Band Joins the Yamaha Percussion Family
Members of the UCLA Bruin Solid Gold Marching Band show off their Yamaha marching percussion instruments. |
Of the 119 Division I-A college marching band programs in the country, over 60 percent have chosen to "Play Yamaha" marching percussion instruments. That number is growing each year as more and more college bands demand percussion instruments of a higher quality. At their home games at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, the Bruin Band often plays for crowds as large as 75,000 people. Yamaha National Sales Manager Gary Winder is pleased about the new partnership with UCLA, noting, "Yamaha is excited to be associated with the UCLA Bruin Marching Band. From a football game in South Bend, Indiana last year versus Notre Dame, a friendship grew into a partnership that has since grown into a long-term relationship. We look forward to a 'winning season' in 2007 and beyond."
The Bruin band recently traveled to the NCAA Final Four basketball tournament in support of the UCLA Men's basketball program run for the National Championship. |
The football pre-game shows by the band are always filled with energy and enthusiasm. Some fan favorites in the band's repertoire include "Strike Up the Band," Sons of Westwood" and "The Mighty Bruins." Throughout the game, this dynamic group of students keeps spirits high with rock and pop hits and Bruin "eight claps." When halftime rolls around, the Marching Band charges the field to entertain the audience with a symphonic fusion of sound, movement and color. No one does it better than the Solid Gold Sound of the UCLA Bruin Marching Band.
