Yamaha Hosts Day of Trumpets IV
NEW YORK Yamaha Corporation of America, Band & Orchestral Division, presents Day of Trumpets IV, to be held at Yamaha Artist Services, Inc. in New York City on October 13, 2007.
The day features Yamaha trumpets and artists, and events include a clinic and masterclass by two top Yamaha artists, tours of the 11th floor Band and Orchestral Atelier and the chance to play the entire line of Yamaha professional and custom trumpets.
Day of Trumpets IV will also celebrate the launch of the YTR-9335VS Signature Artist Model, designed with the custom specifications of international trumpet soloist Allen Vizzutti. Renowned technicians Tomoji Hirakata and Wayne Tanabe will be available to discuss Yamaha wind instruments and customization options.
In addition to a clinic and masterclass by Allen Vizzutti and John Hagstrom, the day culminates with a free evening performance. All events are free and open to the public, but seating is limited to the first 150 people. R.S.V.P. today by sending an e-mail to trumpet@yamaha.com

Equally at home in a multitude of musical idioms, Allen Vizzutti has performed with many renowned artists and ensembles, including Chick Corea, 'Doc' Severinsen, the NBC Tonight Show Band, the Army Blues and Army Symphony Orchestra, Chuck Mangione, Japan's NHK Orchestra, the New Tokyo Philharmonic and the Budapest Radio Orchestra. Performing as a classical and a jazz artist, often in the same evening, he has appeared as guest soloist with symphony orchestras in Tokyo, Germany, St. Louis, Seattle, Rochester, Syracuse, Milwaukee, Buffalo, Phoenix, Edmonton, Vancouver and Winnipeg. Vizzutti's status as an artist has led to solo performances at the Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall, Newport Jazz Festival, Montreaux Jazz Festival and Lincoln Center in New York City. Vizzutti's current activities include an impressive schedule of recitals, concerts, recording and composing. His continued commitment to music education and the value of music in everyday life results in an extensive schedule of guest appearances at universities throughout North America, Europe, Japan and Australia.
John Hagstrom has been a member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's trumpet section since 1996, when he won the audition for fourth trumpet. A year later, he won the second trumpet job, carrying on the tradition of brass section teamwork for which the CSO is famous. Prior to joining the Orchestra, he was principal trumpet of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra in Kansas, and served as assistant professor of trumpet at Wichita State University. Hagstrom spent six years in "The President's Own" United States Marine Band in Washington, D.C., three as principal trumpet. His many solo appearances with the band included four national concert tours and the Camp David wedding of President George Bush's daughter, Dorothy. Commercial recordings featuring John include his performance of the Bellini Oboe Concerto and the Sachse Concertino with the Chicago Brass Choir. He also can be heard as lead trumpet on Daniel Barenboim's "Tribute to Ellington" on the Teldec label. He currently leads the trumpet studio at DePaul University.
