The donation, given to Isidore Newman School and Tipitina's Foundation, consisted of four snare drums, two tenor/quad drums and three bass drums, all with harnesses.

"We have an impressive, growing percussion ensemble and these drums will give students without instruments a chance to participate more," said Brian Dufour, Band Director at Isidore Newman School. "I have always preferred the sound of Yamaha Drums, and as the color matches our existing Yamaha drums, I am extremely pleased."

The Isidore Newman School has been providing top-quality education to the children of New Orleans since 1903. Its percussion ensemble plays a variety of arrangements from Rock to Classical, all uniquely written for the percussion family of instruments. More information about the Isidore Newman School can be found at www.newmanschool.org.

The Tipitina's Foundation works to support childhood music education, the professional development of adult musicians and the increased profile and viability of New Orleans music as a cultural, educational and economic resource. Recently, it has adjusted its efforts to helping artists recover from Hurricane Katrina and preserving the cultural traditions of New Orleans. "Both the Music Department at Tulane University and Yamaha Corporation have similar goals: improving lives through music," said Percussion Marketing Manager Troy Wollwage, Yamaha Corporation of America. "The ultimate goal is to keep the youth of today involved in music and Yamaha is always on the lookout for a chance to make an impact, either regionally or nationally. Through this partnership with Tulane University, several local organizations will benefit."
