Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Trumpet Player Tom Hooten Joins Yamaha Artist Roster
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. Yamaha Corporation of America, Band & Orchestral Division, has recently signed Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Principal Trumpet Tom Hooten to its artist roster.
Born in Tampa, Florida, Hooten earned a Bachelors of Music in music performance from the University of South Florida and a Masters in Music from Rice University. His major teachers included Armando Ghitalla, Don Owen, Robert Smith and John Hagstrom. He completed a four-year tour of duty with the United States Marine Band, "The President's Own," and was featured soloist for a seven-week national tour. He has performed with the Baltimore, National, Harrisburg, New World, Florida and Florida West Coast symphony orchestras and has participated in the Tanglewood, Round Top and Aspen music festivals.

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) is regarded as one of the most creative and innovative orchestras in North America. The 95-member symphony is complemented by the acclaimed Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus and the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra. Serving as the cornerstone for musical performance and training in an area extending far beyond the city's borders, the ASO reaches nearly half a million people through its various concert series and its diverse initiatives in music education and outreach.
