New All-Ages Corps Joins the Yamaha Family

Fusion Core competed this year in the Drum Corps Associates (DCA) circuit, making a powerful impact. One of the benefits of competing in this circuit is that experienced members are able to continue their education in music and color guard skills, while members new to the activity are able to learn alongside those with previous drum corps experience. The new group also takes pride in providing a youth activity that promotes music education and personal development, as well as discipline. Members learn how to rely on teamwork to accomplish a unified goal, and develop physical and musical ability along with the finesse to create an exciting musical production.
When Fusion Core chose the title for their 2007 show, they wanted to communicate the path and struggles of becoming a new corps. The title, "A Journey Begins," was best fitting for an experience such as this. The show featured music by Pat Metheny, Don Ellis and a very popular number done by many drum corps in the past, "Strawberry Soup." When asked about this season, Executive Director Ralph Marino said, "The goal this year is to provide each member with a positive drum corps experience and provide the tools necessary to excel not only musically but personally; we also look forward to making a few new friends in the process."
This year Fusion performed their show at various parades throughout the New Jersey area, as well as competed in DCA circuit shows. Yamaha is proud to support Fusion Core as their "Journey Begins."
